Producing / Dj Software you are using?
I am using propellerhead reason 5
Like in reason that i can plug wires myself and make my own setups and patches with combinators etc.
With reason my creativity is just better because i can make my own sounds and try new thinks with wiring.

Re: Producing / Dj Software you are using?
I wouldn't know where to start making music lol. But I hear you can DJ on a computer. What program can I use to do this? Are there any good free programs I can start with, if I get any good I might look at buying a program or maybe even turntables but I want to have a go with free stuff to see how its like.

Re: Producing / Dj Software you are using?
I kinda started the way you did Kixta, played around with mixing software then got addicted and bought some CDJs. It IS addictive, you have been warned .
In answer to your question though, try demos of Virtual DJ or Traktor. I prefer Traktor (though I could never work out how to record my sets). Virtual DJ has a few cool effects and a easy learning curve, so I'd probably suggest to spend some time on the VDJ trial and then move on to Traktor.
As for producing software, I've mucked about on Fruity Loops but never done anything serious. As much as I love the idea of making music, I get frustrated easily and just don't have the patience to finish a track

Mixing programs Kixta, get on Traktor, it's where it's at. Easy as.
Production wise, at the moment, I'm using Ableton, which is up there. I'd say it's all of a muchness though. I'd say your sounds that you're working with are more important than the program you're using. Shit sounds and samples, shit tunes, good sounds, and enough time and effort put into something, good tunes.

Re: Producing / Dj Software you are using?
FL 9 is good, but 10 has its advantages. Such as MUCH faster rendering. My god FL9 takes all night....

Re: Producing / Dj Software you are using?
its the only way dont feel the need to piss about with a mix really, im confident enough my mixing doesnt need the help of a computer, takes alot of the fun out of it for me, prefer to dj with my ears not my eyes lol, if it was up to me vinyl would still be produced as i love vinyl more than cdjs, just a shame there are no tunes on vinyl anymore

Re: Producing / Dj Software you are using?
I learned to mix with Vinyl originally, a pair of Numark battle pack £200 inc mixer special. LOL. You can do anything when you learn to mix on belt drive
I then got a pair of Gemini XL600's given to me, but i don't use em anymore.
Like Beezee, i'm confident enough im my mixing skills nowadays to know i don't need to practice. Unlike Beezee, i use Mixmeister Fusion for my mixes, as i don't have the hardware like CDJ's/Mixer etc.
I've performed many live mixes at clubs identical to those i can pull off on Mixmeister. I generally mix my set on Mixmeister before a set out anyways, plan drop points etc...
I'm more than happy to admit that i use DJ software, anyone who wants to contest my live mixing skills are more than welcome. I will shoot them down into the sea

Re: Producing / Dj Software you are using?
YO!
I have used Sonar, Ableton, Cubase, etc
But now I run a Hackint0sh and logic 9.
In fact Nick235 and myself produced the hacks first tune yesterday, and it never missed a beat. Just incase anyone thinks they dont work
At last somewhere else to talk about freeform. RIP NEC

Re: Producing / Dj Software you are using?
All the Endemic tracks are made using cubase 5 at James' studio. I personally use logic 9 (*spaff*).
Dj wise 2 x cdj 1000's and a djm600 mixer although myself and Jamis are looking into getting a traktor controllor at some point. Traktor is defo the future, need to get a laptop first though!
